Playing “bangers for the masses“!
The MONITORS are a five-piece rock covers band based in Hertfordshire, UK. Playing “bangers for the masses” we focus on covers that we hope everyone will love.
What makes us different? Whilst we do many from the standard “catalogue” that other covers bands do, many of those we perform will be different to what you’ve heard / seen other covers bands do. However, ALL are bangers!
We’re also a band that is happy to host “Band-E-Oke” events where audience participation is the name of the game.
Formed in 2012, The Monitors have been gigging locally in Ware, Hertford and surrounding areas and are regulars at the Hertford Musical Mystery Tour and local music festivals.

Paul Davis – Lead Vocals and Guitar
As a founder member and the voice of the band, Paul has a diverse and wide interest in most music genres. Although he favours heavier rock, Paul recognises a “banger” when he hears it, whatever the genre. Paul’s love of music and (by his own admittance) by the fact he’s a “show-off” means he’s well-suited as the front man for the band. Billing himself as “a singer who can play guitar”, Paul brings some extra “body” to the music the MONITORS make.
Steve Donoghue – Bass
Steve originally started playing guitar but moved to playing bass after a couple of years. As a founder member of the band, the requirement was obvious, the inclination and skill to transition to bass was his to own. Mr “horizontal” he has no ego that would affect the band harmony and quietly just gets on with the job! However, give him the chance and you WILL find him cranking the volume knob! :0)
Colin “PADDY” O’Sullivan – Drums & Backing Vocals
Paddy brought with him a new lease of life. One of those guys who simply LOVES playing, his energy is clear and when you see him rock out, you’ll wanna hit the dance floor. Like most drummers, he’s a real personality and he has an appreciation for a wide range of music genres.
Gary Gibson – Lead Guitar
True to his name, you won’t find Gary using a Fender! Another founder member of the band, Gary is “Mr Calm” and the only time his heart rate gets above 65bps is when he’s shredding his Les Paul! Nicknamed “Judith Chalmers”, I’ll leave you all to decide what Gary’s other passion in life is.
